Unfounded rumors.
It has come to my attention that there are many rumors swirling around about our club, membership, and future. Please do not fall victim to these crazy, unfounded comments stirred up by ignorance. Lakeland has been around for over 40 years. To listen to this 'trash talk' serves no purpose. Lakeland members can count on strong, reputable, honorable club that will stand by ALL its members. If you have any questions or concerns do not hesitate to contact me.

7:34 Meeting called to order
Treasury report read and accepted
New Business; John Carey has been working on something with the Meadowlands Commission. He has had meetings and phone calls with members of the commission. They say they have possible sites but won’t reveal the locations at this time. As it stands now hopefully a meeting will be set up in the next 7 to 10 days to review a site that will be revealed at that time.
Although we have a letter from the Commission saying if the landfill isn’t acceptable what about the Empire Tract. The top of the hill site has been leased to a compost processing company. Negotiations are proceeding with nothing concrete yet.
There was an offer made to any new members that joined for the 2010 flying season to get their initiation fee refunded with the understanding that they would have to go through the new member process all over again if and when we get a field and openings are available.
BCMA news; Paul Swiderski met with Dennis McNerney regarding a flying site in the new enlarged Overpeck Park. He did so not representing Lakeland but as an individual. There’s no news to report.
North Arlington paid back 3 million dollars for a piece of property from the Encap debacle. The property is unbuildable with no plans for its use. N. Arlington would need to sign off on the air space for fly over. With all this any kind of proceedings are unable to continue until Nov. Lew Talone has been following this.
The Moonachie club has offered 20 openings.
The usual morning crew have been flying electrics in Riverside Park weekdays between 9 and 1pm.
Elections for the Executive committee are this year. The vote is in December, before the Christmas party. Nominations need to be made. 2 for each position. Must have been a member for at least 2 years.
Check the website for updates regarding the ‘Search For A Field’.
The Wayne flyers have offered use of their field and Jeff Soloman stated the Hudson Valley Flyers need members. The HVF have a beautiful field in Haverstraw, NY on the west side of the Hudson. HVRCC.com

Old business; Thanks to those that helped with the field clean-up and clubhouse painting and to Buzz for refurbishing the Lakeland sign. The RC car track has been put to rest. Chris is renting a new larger place where he can have an indoor track.
New business; Provisional pilots must have an instructor. The instructor will check the airworthiness of the airplane/helicopter. If you’re training on an airplane you must be using a buddy box. We’re not sure a buddy box will work with helicopters.
No meeting in July or August. Next meeting is September 21, 2010
Jeff Suarnoski (forgive my spelling) and Steve Dudas voted in as new members.
Andy showed off his King Kobra and filled us in his building and setup for the plane.

Field Cleanup. Thank you members.
I WOULD LIKE TO THANK ALL THE MEMBERS THAT CAME OUT FOR THE CLEAN UP AT THE FIELD. ALSO, THANKS TO THOSE WHO PAINTED THE FIELD HOUSE INSIDE AND OUT AND THOSE WHO REPAIRED THE FIELD BY SHOVELING AND SIFTING DIRT TO FILL IN THE HOLES ON THE FLIGHT LINE. THE FIELD LOOKS IN GOOD SHAPE. THIS IS FOR ALL MEMBERS TO KEEP IT CLEAN AND GREEN. PICTURES OF THE FIELD REPAIR WORK ARE POSTED IN THE GALLERY.
