7:34 Meeting called to order
Treasury report read and accepted
New Business; John Carey has been working on something with the Meadowlands Commission. He has had meetings and phone calls with members of the commission. They say they have possible sites but won’t reveal the locations at this time. As it stands now hopefully a meeting will be set up in the next 7 to 10 days to review a site that will be revealed at that time.
Although we have a letter from the Commission saying if the landfill isn’t acceptable what about the Empire Tract. The top of the hill site has been leased to a compost processing company. Negotiations are proceeding with nothing concrete yet.
There was an offer made to any new members that joined for the 2010 flying season to get their initiation fee refunded with the understanding that they would have to go through the new member process all over again if and when we get a field and openings are available.
BCMA news; Paul Swiderski met with Dennis McNerney regarding a flying site in the new enlarged Overpeck Park. He did so not representing Lakeland but as an individual. There’s no news to report.
North Arlington paid back 3 million dollars for a piece of property from the Encap debacle. The property is unbuildable with no plans for its use. N. Arlington would need to sign off on the air space for fly over. With all this any kind of proceedings are unable to continue until Nov. Lew Talone has been following this.
The Moonachie club has offered 20 openings.
The usual morning crew have been flying electrics in Riverside Park weekdays between 9 and 1pm.
Elections for the Executive committee are this year. The vote is in December, before the Christmas party. Nominations need to be made. 2 for each position. Must have been a member for at least 2 years.
Check the website for updates regarding the ‘Search For A Field’.
The Wayne flyers have offered use of their field and Jeff Soloman stated the Hudson Valley Flyers need members. The HVF have a beautiful field in Haverstraw, NY on the west side of the Hudson. HVRCC.com
